Orthodontic and Dental Education
Dr. Timothy Foley obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University in Halifax, where he was a Gold D recipient. Following graduation, he practiced general family dentistry for several years before enrolling in the graduate orthodontic program at the University of Western Ontario, where he received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics.
Upon graduation, Dr. Foley accepted a position at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where he developed a keen interest in treating cleft lip and palate patients under the guidance of Dr. Vincent Morris. He taught at Trinity for two years before returning to the University of Western Ontario as Director of the graduate orthodontic clinic.
During his twenty-five years of teaching and research, he has achieved tenure at the University of Western Ontario, supervised twenty-five graduate student theses, and been listed as a first or second author on more than twenty-seven published papers. He also completed a two-year post-graduate orthodontic program presented by Dr. Richard P. McLaughlin from the University of Southern California in San Diego, California.
Professional Memberships
Dr. Foley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a fellow in orthodontics in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and an active member in various dental study clubs. He is currently an active staff member with the cleft lip and palate program at the Thames Valley Children’s Centre and the London Health Sciences Centre and is a part-time associate professor in the graduate orthodontic and the undergraduate dentistry programs at Western University.
Personal Life
Dr. Foley is married to Charlene, and they have three children: Martha, Mark, and Anna, a dog, Enzo and a cat, Socks. He often takes the opportunity to play pickup basketball at Western and is a member of the Ceep’s men’s basketball team. He also enjoys going to the Grand Theatre, attending various sporting events, and is an avid listener of CBC radio. He has travelled to both Peru and Belarus to provide dental treatment to underprivileged people, and one of his favourite volunteer activities is regularly serving hot meals to disadvantaged people who live in London’s downtown core.

Dr. Foley is an active member of the London community. He is also a member of the Better Business Bureau in London, Ontario and a sponsor of the Red Circle Hockey Club.
